A Hurricane Ida Call of Action!

Our hearts go out to the families and businesses affected by Hurricane Ida. Our community, along with many others across the state, has been affected dramatically by the Category 4 storm that blew through on August 29th. Over 1 million have been left without electricity in Louisiana, including hundreds of thousands in East Baton Rouge Parish. These major power outages have led to the closures of schools until at least Tuesday, September 7th

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System serves approximately 41,000 students - eighty percent (80%) of whom rely heavily upon receiving breakfast and lunch served in school due to their family’s socioeconomic status. Eighty percent. In an effort to keep those children from going hungry while officials assess and mitigate the damage in the community, our school district is looking to continue to serve meals while schools are closed.

As part of the Foundation's unique role on behalf of our school system, and with your support, we are now assisting in our school system's limited return to food service for students in need. Your donation today will help fund the purchase of to-go supplies and other food service items essential to provide much-needed meals to students during this recovery.

We appreciate your support and partnership in this important effort. Please consider donating online today!
