Southeast Middle School | Learning Math, Science, and Entrepreneurship Through Homemade Ice Cream

Southeast Middle School | Learning Math, Science, and Entrepreneurship Through Homemade Ice Cream

Purpose: Student will review and learn more about ratios and proportions, entrepreneurship and percents. Students will also learn more about various science topics such as discovering why ice melts fast when salt is applied. This project will be completed the week before standardized testing as a stress relieving review.

Impact: The project was a huge success. The spent the days leading up to making the ice cream reviewing ratios, proportions, and percents. We focused the review on how these skills could be using in scaling recipes and later for marketing and sales. The kids we so much more engaged in the learning process when they had something tangent to relate it to!
