Greenbier Elementary School | Kindergarten Technology Literacy

Greenbier Elementary School | Kindergarten Technology Literacy

Purpose: Students will be able to use Chromebooks to enrich and extend classroom learning. In addition, students will build their technology aptitude and prepare them with for future pursuits.

The purpose of the grant would be to purchase Chromebooks for Kindergarten students. It is so important that our students are exposed to technology and taught how to effectively use it! Students will be able to use Coding software designed for young learners! Coding is a valuable skill for our current generation of learners.

Impact: I used the ADF Grant to purchase a class set of Chromebooks, which were used to teach technology literacy skills, specifically coding.  Students showed a lot of growth over the few months we used the Chromebooks, and I think it will be great to see the improvement next year when students can grow over the whole 2019-2020 school year. Many of my students really enjoyed using the Chromebooks and code.org.  I think that this project would be easy to replicate, although it would need to be with a teacher that was motivated and willing to practice with the technology.  It gave my students a chance learn a new skill and to feel successful at school, even if they struggled with traditional academics.
