Historic Gains for EBR Schools

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is celebrating historic academic gains following the release of the Louisiana Department of Education’s School Performance Scores and letter grades on November 20, and these achievements underscore the powerful role that community investment plays in student success.

EBR Schools achieved an overall School Performance Score of 72.4, earning a solid “C” rating and marking the highest SPS in district history. This milestone reflects years of steady progress, focused instruction, and the collective efforts of educators, students, families, and community partners working together to move the district forward.

In addition to the overall SPS increase, 11 schools earned full letter grade growth to a “C” or higher, and the district achieved an “A” rating in Strength of Diploma for the first time ever. EBR Schools also earned a “B” for graduation rate, representing the highest graduation performance in district history. With these gains, the district now ranks 10th in the state for overall student growth.

Superintendent LaMont Cole emphasized that these outcomes are the result of a systemwide commitment and strong partnerships. “Our success did not happen by chance,” Cole said. “It is the direct result of the dedication of every teacher, support professional, custodian, bus driver, counselor, principal, central office staff member, and community partner. Every one of you helped move this system forward, and I am profoundly grateful.”
