Board Visit Highlights Innovation in Workforce Development

February 25, 2025— The Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System had the pleasure of holding our Board Meeting at the EBR Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC). It was more than just a meeting—it was an inspiring glimpse into the future of workforce development in our community.

Following our board discussions, we were treated to a tour of CTEC’s impressive, state-of-the-art facilities. From high-tech classrooms to fully equipped labs and workspaces, it’s clear that CTEC is more than a school—it's a launchpad for future careers.

One of the highlights of our visit was seeing the incredible work high school students are doing firsthand. Currently, they’re building a custom adaptive playhouse for Southdowns Pre-K students, applying real-world skills to make a meaningful impact in the lives of their younger peers. It’s just one example of how students are using their talents and training to give back to the community while building their futures.

CTEC plays a pivotal role in preparing students for success beyond high school by offering rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry-Based Certifications (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities. These programs allow students to earn college credit toward an Associate Degree—all while gaining hands-on experience in high-demand industries critical to the Capital Region’s economic growth.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the CTEC team for hosting us and for their continued partnership in equipping the next generation with the skills, confidence, and vision to thrive.
