ExxonMobil Allocates $300,000 to Support Education and Reveals New Aquaponics Lab at Brookstown Middle School
Brookstown Middle School will host a ribbon cutting and white coat ceremony on Thursday, October 12 for their new Aquaponics lab. Aquaponics is the technique of raising fish and growing crops together in a closed-loop ecosystem. The fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants and the plants naturally filter the water for the fish. The lab, funded by ExxonMobil and Foundation for East Baton Rouge Schools, is an innovative project to develop STEM-based skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and leadership development in students.
